How do I start?
The first thing to do is to send an email via our contact form page letting us know what sort of project you have in mind and whether you would like to arrange a free site visit. Having done that you can expect to hear back quickly from us to further discuss your design ideas and other details.
Will I need planning permission?
This depends on the size and location of your building, however, as most of our buildings fall just short of 2.5m in height they don’t usually require planning permission. If you are looking for a bit more head room or want a garden office studio larger than 30 sqm, then planning permission is normally needed. We can advise you on this during the free site-visit consultation and if it is decided that seeking planning permission is the right route for you then we can offer that service at £450+VAT. That price includes all scale drawings as well the administrative side of the application.
Will my building need to meet building regulations?
For the majority of our building, building regulations do not apply due their size and design. However, all our buildings can be quickly and properly modified to meet any building regulations imposed by your local council.
Do you install the electrics?
Yes we do offer first and final fit electrical installation. Four double sockets and six LED spotlights come as standard in each quote, however, we can tailor the electrical specifications to match your needs. We have experience installing:
Once our work is done we have partner company who we liaise with to come on site and certify the electrical work and do a final connection so you can move into your garden room.
- Internet and telephone ports
- Underfloor heating
- In-built stereo systems
- Motion sensor alarms
- Ceiling Projectors with hidden HDMI conduits
- Remote activated light and power fittings with dimmer capabilities

Can I do some of the building work myself?
If you like the idea of tackling some of the building work yourself but haven’t got much DIY experience or just have limited time, then there is the option to have Garden2office install and assist with just part of the process. For example, we can construct the basic modular shell of your building and allow you to finish the exterior and interior work. If you are considering this option just let us know through the contact form how much of the building you would like to take on yourself.
Can I come and see one of your buildings?
Yes you can, we have a demo unit in Croydon, Surrey where visits can be arranged to suit your schedule. If the demo unit is too far for you to travel, many of our previous clients are more than happy to have people come and visit their garden office.
Can I have an attached storage room?
Yes we do offer this as one of our optional extras. The storage room can be designed to meet your requirements, and we offer external and internal access depending on your preferences.
What payment methods do you offer?
We offer a selection of payment alternatives including: bank transfers, cheques and credit card payment.
We also offer a lease payment option. For more detailed information please let us know in the contact form which option you are considering.

How long will my project take
Our normal building time is 2-3 weeks from start to finish. This can vary slightly depending on the size of your garden room and also on any particular specifications you have requested, however, it would very rarely run over that time frame.
I have restricted access to the garden, is this a problem?
Many of our customers do not have side access pathways or easy through routes to their gardens but this is not an issue at all. We can work around nearly any access restrictions because the Swedish modules we use can be easily carried through houses.
Do you have a brochure?
We have recently produced a brochure that includes more information on the construction process and some pricing guides. It can be downloaded here.
If you can’t find the answer you need, just enquire through the contact form and we will respond as quickly as possible to your question. Or if you want you can tweet us and we will do our best to help
